Welcome to the Patent Practitioner Home Page. Through this portal, public registered users can submit a request, update their profile,
review their account history, change their password, obtain the Office of Enrollment and Discipline phone number and email address,
recover their ID or password, and verify their identity.
Once a user has successfully logged in to Applicant Portal, the Patent Practitioner Portal Page is displayed containing navigational hyperlinks
which enable the user to accomplish OED self-service actions. The user can click on any hyperlink to be routed to the action page.
To obtain the user's account history, the user selects the 'My account' hyperlink on the Patent Practitioner Portal Page.
The Account History tab appears to enable the user to view the account history of transactions and payment status.
Selecting the 'Print' option will display a printable document of the account history.
After the printable document appears, the user can select the 'Print' button. The 'Print' window appears for the user to print the account history inquiry
After printing the account history inquiry, the user closes the window by selecting the red 'X' in the upper right hand corner.
As a registered Attorney and Agent, you are required to notify the Director of any changes of address separately
from any notice of address change filed in individual patent applications. 37 CFR ยง11.11(a).
To update your profile, please select the 'My account' hyperlink on the Patent Practitioner Portal Page.
The Update Profile tab appears to enable the user to make any necessary updates to the user's profile and to ensure
that all the required fields are populated or checked prior to selecting the 'Update' button.
The Update My Profile confirmation window appears to communicate to the user that the profile was updated.
To change the password, the user selects the 'My account' hyperlink on the Patent Practitioner Portal Page.
The Change Password tab appears for the user to populate the Old Password, New Password, and Confirm New Password
prior to selecting the 'Submit' button.
The Change Password Confirmation window appears to communicate to the user that the password was changed.
The user selects the 'Online Submission' hyperlink to access the list of available requests that may be executed in order to accomplish tasks
such as Name Change, Naturalization/Citizenship Change, Status Change, etc.
The Request page lists the request types and any fee associated with each request. The types of requests that are available to the user
are dependent on the user's practitioner type and status. Multiple requests may be selected before submitting the requests for processing.
Requests that have a fee associated with them will require extra processing where the Applicant Portal directs the user to a screen for payment of the fees online.
The user initiates a request by selecting the box to the left of the request type. A new page is displayed for the request type chosen
which contains the entry fields and/or form(s) that the user must populate in order to process the request.
There is a 'Back', and 'Cancel Request' button at the bottom of each page to navigate between the pages.
NOTE: It is critical that all required fields on a Practitioner Request page be populated before selecting a navigational button,
or else the user will not be able to move to another page.
The 'Cancel Request' button will revoke all selected Requests and return the user to the main Practitioner Request page containing the list.
After selecting the requests, the user navigates to the Review and Sign page to complete the submission by clicking on the 'Continue' button.
The user should review the summary of requests displayed at the top of page and then scroll to the bottom of the page and enter a signature
to show confirmation.
Next, the user selects the 'Pay Now' button at the bottom of the Review and Sign page.
NOTE: The 'Pay Now' button is used to submit all types requests, both fee-based and non-fee requests.
For requests that require a fee payment, the Make Payment screen appears containing payment options. The user may 'Pay as guest',
which is a one-time method for making a payment using a credit card, or the user may select the 'Sign in' option and enter
their MyUSPTO login name and password to use their stored financial manager account.
NOTE: The 'Pay as a Guest' method can be used without registering a MyUSPTO account, but if the user signs up for a MyUSPTO account,
then they can store payment methods and view their payment history.
The 'Pay as Guest' option produces a Make Payment screen containing fields for entering credit card information.
After populating all required fields, the user selects the 'Submit Payment' button to process the credit card payment.
After the payment is successfully processed, a confirmation screen appears containing payment details and a summary of the transactions
processed.
To sign out of the OED Patent Practitioner Portal, the user selects the 'Sign out' button.
The user is returned to the Patent Practitioner Home Page
To recover the user ID or Password, the user selects the 'Forgot User ID or Password?' link on the Registered Practitioner Sign In Page.
The Practitioner Portal User Account Recovery window appears to enable the user to select the 'User ID' or 'password' option and populate
all the required fields prior to selecting the 'Continue' button.
The user answers the 'Security Question' and selects the 'Continue' button.
If the user doesn't have the security 'Questions and Answer' set up in his/her profile he/she enters the 'Date of birth' and selects the 'Continue' button.
The user selects the delivery method from the drop down list.
The user enters the primary email address and selects the 'Continue' button.
The Confirmation window appears to confirm that the user id or password was sent to the email address previously provided prior to selecting
the 'Sign In' option.
If the user lost access to the email or address he/she can select the 'Verify your identity' link.
The user uploads the government issued photo ID, enters the contact information and selects the 'Continue' button.
The Practitioner Portal User Account Recovery window appears to confirm that the user's request will be processed upon completion of identity verification.
